The feature list for a modern software product is usually made by unholy collaboration of marketroids, management, and producers. These folk are about as nerdy as the producer of a bad sitcom. Indeed, many producers in the software world were once producers in tv, music, or film.llewellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16001213921499191213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15868947.post-30812887136256446392010-06-18T13:31:49.787-07:002010-06-18T13:31:49.787-07:00When we were working on OpenLab 2009, I used OpenO...When we were working on OpenLab 2009, I used OpenOffice to convert files from various versions of MS Word into LaTeX. It handled the job fine, although none of the documents I had to convert were too large or elaborate (a few pages, with the occasional picture). Of course, once I had the automagically-generated LaTeX on hand, I had to emacs it into the proper shape for fitting into the book, but that's not OpenOffice's fault.

(Today's CAPTCHA: aigne. Noun, onomatopoeic — the sound made by a person whose life's savings vanished in a puff of CDO.)Blake Staceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13977394981287067289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15868947.post-66062144309916434162010-06-15T18:42:04.679-07:002010-06-15T18:42:04.679-07:00"Is it user-friendlier?"

The first thing I always end up doing with a new MS Office install is get rid of the annoying animated git.

I have a fondness for the European date format "dd/mm/yyyy" or "dd mmmm yyyy." Note the lack of comma after the month in the latter format. American software always wants to put a comma after the month. Europeans don't do it that way and the military doesn't do it that way. That comma drives me up a wall.

Verification Word: mozzwins
Windows cooking software where all the recipes contain mozzarella cheese.Rhoadanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02375561352677522227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15868947.post-37022139838387801412010-06-15T07:09:09.268-07:002010-06-15T07:09:09.268-07:00There are a few things you can do.

The AutoFormat and AutoCorrect tabs is where you'll find the relevant options. The Math AutoCorrect tab could also be of interest to you if you type math in Word.

I found the AutoCorrect feature useful when I was in college. I would use "Ss" for students and "Ts" for teachers etc. Picking rare combination of letters that are easy to type saved me time typing.Mr. Hhttp://mrho.net/blog/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15868947.post-86201736771759775742010-06-15T06:39:34.077-07:002010-06-15T06:39:34.077-07:00Tell me about it, spurge.
